    Default Homemade Veggie Burgers

Order nail wraps from a Jamberry Independent Consultant
As vegetarians, we love veggie burgers. Recently I've been getting further away from processed foods and have started making my own. We love these so much and probably eat them once a week, I had to share. This recipe is really flexible and has many variations, but this is how I generally make mine! This makes 4 burgers

1 can beans, my preference is black or pinto
1/2 c +/- some vegetable, like corn, mushrooms, garlic, onions, pepper (optional)
1/4 c +/- bbq sauce or ketchup, something to use as a "binder"
1/4 c whole wheat flour (or white flour, I just prefer ww)
    S&P to taste

Mash beans in a bowl with a fork or potato masher. Add other ingredients and mix until well combined.

Add a little more sauce or flour as needed. Should be thick so that you can roll it in your hand and then flatten into a patty. Will be slightly sticky.

Lightly coat a frying pan with olive oil. I have an olive oil sprayer called a Misto and I love it!

Let cook on one side 4 5 minutes. Its ready to flip when you can easily free it from the pan with a spatula.

Made here with black beans and chopped mushrooms.

    Pinto beans and corn version.

Once flipped, this is a good time to flatten a bit more with your spatula. Since this side is cooked it wont stick to your spatula. Cook an additional 4 5 minutes, flip again and cook another 2 3 minutes on each side.

    Top as desired and enjoy!

Low in fat and calories (especially compared to a beef burger!), high in protein and fiber, a fast, easy, healthy meal. The burger mixture stores well in the fridge for a few days too (maybe longer but ours never last that long! ) so you can make up a batch and then make into patties and cook when you're ready.

I used to do this all the time with lentils (mixed with onion and carrots) as well. I usually use egg along with flour to bind though. Yum!!!

You know I've heard of people using lentils for burgers but I've yet to try it! Thanks for the reminder, I'm adding this to the menu for this week!

Thanks! I can't wait to try. Beans will be on my grocery list. I have TONS of zucchni coming out of the garden soon! DH and the kids counted 18 flowers! So, I thinking I will be trying it with zucchini!!
