    Default Amazing Apple Pie

    Order nail wraps from a Jamberry Independent Consultant
    Description: Delicious apple pie, especially if you use the pie crust recipe
    I posted

    Serving Size: 1 pie

    Time: 30 min. prep, 1 hour baking

    Difficulty: Easy

    Ingredients:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 3 TBS All Purpose Flour
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/2 cup white sugar
    • 1/2 brown sugar, packed
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • 8 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
    • Pie crust
    Steps:
    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
    • Melt the butter in a saucepan and stir in flour to form a paste.
    • Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and bring to a boil.
    • Reduce temperature and let simmer.
    • Place the bottom crust in your pan.
    • Fill with apples, mounded slightly.
    • Cover with a lattice work of crust.
    • Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour
    • slowly so that it does not run off.
    • Bake for 1 hour at 350 F, or until apples are soft.

    I do make a slight change to the recipe as written:

    I mix about half of the syrup with the apples before I put them in the pie shell, then I put the lattice work on top (or the crust if you don't want to make the lattice), and pour the remaining half of the syrup over the top of the pie. It helps if you already have everything ready to go (so have the lattice strips cut and in the fridge while you make the rest of the pie). The syrup will harden a bit as it cools, so you can also keep it simmering on low as you put the lattice on top of the pie
