Italian Red Sauce (LARGE batch)

This is my friend Lindsay's super sauce recipe.
1 - 111 oz can tomato paste
1 - 102 oz can diced tomatoes
1 - 106 oz can tomato sauce
7 c. hot water
1 c. cold water
1/2 c. cornstarch
1/2 c. dried parsley
1/2 c. minced onion
1/4 c. minced garlic
1/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. salt
2 tsp. dried basil
2 tsp. dried oregano
2 tsp. dried thyme
one-gallon freezer bags
Divide the tomato paste in half and save half for next time (you can freeze it).
Get a BIG pot. Put the other half of the tomato paste in the pot with 7 c. hot water and whisk until smooth.
Dissolve cornstarch in the cold water, and add to pot along with dried parsley, minced onion, minced garlic, sugar, salt, basil, oregano and thyme. Stir.
Add tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Mix well.
DO NOT COOK!
Measure sauce into whatever serving size you want into one-gallon freezer bags. (I put 5-6 c. per bag, and that's enough for one meal for my family of 5, PLUS a second meal on day 2).
Freeze (lay bags flat in freezer).
To cook, simmer for at least 20 minutes for use over paste, or use as you would jarred sauce in any recipe.
Meat Sauce: Brown 1 lb. ground beef for every 8 c. of sauce.
Yield: A LOT! About 40 c.

Re: Italian Red Sauce (LARGE batch)
I make that amount almost every Sunday. Lol
Different recipe though, and mine usually simmers with meatballs, carrots, whole onions, etc. so while pot is that large, yield is less.

Where did you find those huge cans of tomatoes, paste and sauce? Costco? Regular grocery store?

Re: Italian Red Sauce (LARGE batch)
The large cans are at Costco. It's like $3.50 for the sauce, $2 something for the paste and the diced comes in smaller cans at my Costco, so I pay about $7 for 8 cans or organic diced (and only need 7 for the recipe).
